Las Vegas, NV (October 16, 2018) – Police are investigating the death of a pedestrian on Tuesday night, October 16th, after he was struck and killed by an SUV in the central valley. The incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. on West Tropicana Avenue near Jones Boulevard, where the unnamed man was crossing outside of marked crosswalks.

At the same time, a Ford Escape, driven by an unnamed 57-year-old woman, was traveling westbound on West Tropicana Avenue and crashed into the pedestrian. The man was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries, but later died, Las Vegas Metro Police said. The driver of the Ford remained at the scene and was fully cooperative with officers, who determined that impairment was not a factor on her part. Metro Police believe that the pedestrian was under the influence at the time of the crash but are continuing to investigate. The deadly crash marks the Metro’s 111th traffic-related fatality this year.
