Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is saying that the driver of a vehicle that lost control and collided with an SUV may have been street racing. The head-on collision killed 2 people and 2 others suffered non-life-threatening injuries at a busy intersection on the east side of Las Vegas Tuesday night, Jan. 30th. According to detectives, a 1991 Acura Integra, being driven by a 20-year old driver, was traveling eastbound on Sahara Avenue, just east of Lamb Boulevard.
The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle rollover crash that hospitalized 5 people, including an 11-year old girl, on Highway 95 in Henderson early Monday morning, Jan. 22nd. Citing initial reports, NHP troopers responded to reports of a Ford SUV that had rolled over in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 95 southbound, near the Horizon Exit, and shortly after erupted into flames. First responders arrived to 5 injured people one of which was an 11-year old girl who was ejected from the Ford SUV during the initial rollover.
The Clark County Coroners Bureau has released the identity of a pedestrian that was killed in a deadly crash in the eastern valley Saturday evening. Jan. 19th. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the crash that killed 53-year old Jefferey Miller, who passed away from injuries sustained in Saturday’s crash. According to LVMPD, officers responded to the scene at 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Warm Springs Road and Tamarus Street, just east of Interstate 215. A Toyota Prius was traveling eastbound on Warm Springs Road at Tamarus Street in the left travel lane. Miller was walking east in the left eastbound travel lane of Warm Springs Road when the Toyota struck him. Miller and the 65-year old driver were both transported by ambulance to Sunrise Hospital.
The North Las Vegas Police Department has identified a 14-year old teenager who was struck and killed as he walked home from school with a friend who was hospitalized with serious injuries Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 9th. 14-year old Elijah Coggins, a freshman at Legacy High School, was walking home walking on a dirt shoulder, facing oncoming traffic, with his friend, 14-year old Trevor Dodd, on N. 5th Street near Centennial Parkway in North Las Vegas.
The North Las Vegas Police Department is investigating a fatal 2-vehicle head-on collision that killed a 24-year old man and left a mother and child hospitalized early Wednesday morning, Jan. 3rd. NLVPD officers responded to a report of a crash at 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of lake Mead and Statz Street, east of Civic Center. According to investigators, the 24-year old man was driving a silver Dodge pickup truck heading eastbound on Lake Mead Boulevard, he was believed to be impaired according to witnesses at the scene.
The Clark County coroner’s office has identified a man killed on U.S. Highway 95 after rear-ending a suspected drunken driver’s pickup near Charleston Boulevard Tuesday night, Jan. 2nd. According to Nevada Highway Patrol, 64-year old Henderson resident Scott E. Butler was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 95. Another driver, identified only as a 30-year old man in a Dodge Ram pickup truck, was also driving northbound on U.S. Highway 95 when it crashed into the right barrier wall then into the center median before coming to a stop in a travel lane.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police recorded the first traffic-related fatality of 2018 when a pedestrian from Brazil was killed after he jumped onto the hood of a Mercedes-Benz and fell off just west of the Stripe early Wednesday morning, Jan. 3rd. According to Metro police and initial witness testimony, the incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. when the 21-year old Brazilian pedestrian was entering the westbound lanes of Flamingo Road when a black 4-door Mercedes-Benz was turning right from southbound Koval Lane.
A Greyhound bus traveling from Utah to Nevada carrying the driver and 13 passengers careened off Interstate 70 and plunged into a deep wash killing a 13-year old girl from California and injuring all 12 other passengers on New Year’s Eve, Sunday night. The incident occurred shortly after 11:00 p.m. along Interstate 70 west of the city of Green River in Emery County, Utah. Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the crash but according to passengers they report a possible medical issue with the bus driver. According to Utah Highway Patrol’s news release, the Greyhound was traveling westbound across the Utah desert from Denver to Las Vegas.
