Las Vegas, NV (September 9, 2018) – Officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene of a fatal car crash in the far northwest valley Sunday afternoon, September 9th. The crash occurred on the corner of Gilcrease Avenue and Grand Canyon Drive, involving 2 vehicles. Police report that a driver of a 2011 Campagna T-Rex vehicle was traveling south on Grand Canyon Drive when it was struck by a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix.

After the initial impact, the Campagna struck a wall, and both vehicles suffered immense damage. In a statement from police, the driver of the Campagna died on scene and the driver and passenger in the Pontiac vehicle sustained minor injuries. The driver of the Pontiac, identified as 48-year-old Cathy Saenz, remained at the scene of the crash and cooperated with officers. Officials closed the roads in the area following the incident as investigations were underway. This crash is noted as the 98th traffic related fatality in Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction since the beginning of 2018.
