Enterprise, NV (June 27, 2018) – Clark County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who was killed in a rear-end accident involving a semi-trailer truck in the southwestern parts of the Las Vegas Valley early Tuesday morning, June 27th. 22-year old Andrew Enrique McAra, as resident of Las Vegas, was identified as the victim in that fatal accident. According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, McAra was traveling northbound on Rainbow Boulevard in a 2012 Honda Civic approaching the intersection with Robindale Road sometime after 4 a.m.

According to LVMPD Sgt. Paul McCullough, a Las Vegas paving company called Peterbilt’s semi-trailer truck was slowly traveling northbound passing through the intersection with a green light when the semi was rear-ended by McAra’s Honda Civic. "The car was totaled... I haven't seen a car that messed up," witness Daniel Nielan said. "As soon as I saw that it was the front end of the car that was totaled, I was almost certain that he had died in the crash." First responders responded and quickly pronounced McAra dead at the scene. Authorities believe that excessive speed and impairment may have contributed to the collision. The driver of the Peterbilt truck remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. He suffered no injuries and was not suspected of impairment. The intersection was closed for the investigation. This death marks the 67th traffic-related death in Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for 2018.
