LAS VEGAS, NV (June 24, 2018) – The Clark County Coroner’s Office has identified the 16-year old teenage boy, who died after crashing an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) in east Las Vegas Sunday night, June 24th. Alejandro Renteria was identified as that teenage boy. According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the crash occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m. when first responded were summoned to Kodachrome Road, located just slightly north of South Hollywood Boulevard.

Evidence recovered at the scene along with witness testimony seem to indicate that the 2016 Cam-Am ATV was traveling northwest on Hollywood Boulevard. That’s when the ATV approached a large construction ditch causing the ATV to launch about 15 feet into the air. When it landed the ATV overturned and ejected the driver and Renteria before coming to a stop at the bottom of the ditch. Both teens were transported via ambulance to Sunrise Hospital Trauma where Renteria was pronounced dead by medical staff a short time after arriving. The driver of that ATV was described as a 15-year old teenage girl. She was reported to be in moderate conditions suffering non-life threatening injuries. She is expected to survive. According to authorities the teenage driver did not show signs of impairment and they do not believe drugs or alcohol to have played a role in this tragic accident. This death marked the 66th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction since the beginning of 2018.The collision remains under investigation by Metro’s Collision Investigation Section.
