Henderson, NV (June13, 2018) - A driver is dead following a fiery crash after the driver rear ended an excavator at a Henderson construction site early Wednesday morning June 13th. The incident occurred sometime after 12:50 a.m. when Henderson Fire Department responded to a collision at 917 East Horizon Ridge Parkway, near Paradise Hills Drive at the Southwest Gas pressure limiting station. Firefighters quickly extinguished a blue 2016 Nissan Versa that was engulfed in flames where they soon discovered a burned body inside the driver’s seat. Evidence at the scene and a witness testimony indicate that the 2016 Nissan Versa was traveling southbound on East Horizon Ridge Parkway, just south of Kind Avenue, where the vehicle left the roadway and onto a dirt path.

The driver over-corrected his vehicle prior to driving into the rear of a 2010 Caterpillar 330D excavator. The Blue Nissan Versa soon ignited as a result of the impact, engulfing the car in fire. Firefighters found the driver still seated in the driver seat. The driver could not be identified at the scene of the accident and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Collision Investigation Detail is awaiting identification from the Clark County coroner’s office. This fatality will not be counted as a traffic-related fatality in the LVMPD's jurisdiction.
