Las Vegas, NV (May 23, 2018) - A 36-year old motorcyclist is dead after a motorcycle vs. vehicle collision that occurred in the northwest valley early Wednesday afternoon, May 23rd. According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, officers were summoned to respond to a fatal traffic collision in the 7100 block of Carrondale Way between Tenaya Way and Washington Avenue sometime after 1:00 p.m.

Evidence collected at the scene by investigators indicate that the vehicle involved a, Ford Focus, was traveling westbound on Carrondale Way with the motorcycle, a Kawasaki, traveling right behind the Ford Focus. The driver of the Ford Focus initiated a left U-turn while the motorcyclist attempted to pass the Ford Focus on the vehicle’s driver side. The motorcyclist then applied the front brakes to his Kawasaki which caused the front tire to lock ejecting the motorcyclist into the roadway where he slid underneath the Ford Focus and was mortally wounded. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet when the crash happened.

First responders arrived on scene and found the motorcyclist unresponsive in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers said that the 62-year old driver of the Ford Focus remained at the crash site and cooperated with authorities. The driver had been on his way home and did not exhibit any signs of impairment. This was the 50th traffic related fatality in Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction since the beginning of 2018.
