Police Search for Driver in Hit-and-Run Crash that Killed a 19 month old Child
Las Vegas, NV (April 19th, 2023) – Las Vegas Metropolitan detectives have appealed to the public for assistance in tracking down Fredy Escamilla-Lopez, a person of interest, after a tragic hit-and-run crash that killed a 19-month-old girl in the east valley.
The incident happened on February 18th, at around 11:19 p.m. near the intersection of Stewart Avenue and Spanish Drive. Sadly, the infant girl died on March 3rd from the injuries she sustained in the accident.
Another 9 Year Old Girl Was Hurt In The Same Accident
In a press release on Tuesday, police detectives named Fredy Escamilla-Lopez as the person of interest. Detectives released Lopez's photo to the public. The child and another girl, aged 9, both sustained serious injuries in the crash. Lopez, the driver of a 2004 Nissan Titan pickup truck crossed into the oncoming lane on Spanish Drive, north of Stewart Avenue, and collided with a block wall just north of Spanish View Lane.
Afterward, 28-year-old Fredy Escamilla-Lopez left the area, leaving the two injured children. They were both transported by ambulance to University Medical Center with critical injuries. Fredy Escamilla-Lopez fled the scene, leaving the pickup behind, making it easy for the police identify him.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has urged anyone with information about the incident to contact their Collision Investigation Section at (702) 828-3786, or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555, or visit www.CrimeStoppersOfNV.com or use the mobile app ‘P3.’ They have also stated that tips leading directly to a felony arrest or indictment processed through Crime Stoppers may result in a cash reward.
