The identity of the driver killed in a head on collision on the US 95 in Las Vegas over the weekend has been released.
According to the Clark County Coroner’s Office, 55-year-old Paul Mears was killed in the crash that took place just before 4 a.m. on Saturday morning.
The accident happened on the southbound lanes as a wayward pickup truck was traveling north against traffic rammed directly into Mears’ Buick sedan.
The driver of the truck was not seriously injured in the accident, and a third driver in a GMC SUV which was also hit in the accident avoided injury as well.
The immediately area surrounding the US 95 was shut down for several hours to clean up the wreckage and investigate the crash.
Nevada Highway Patrol officers say that alcohol was a factor in the accident and the driver of the vehicle is expected to face felony DUI charges.
