A woman is dead after being hit by several cars and ultimately dying after being run over by a sheriff’s deputy car in Pahrump on Tuesday night.

According to the sheriff’s office, the woman was walking down the road at around 8:00 p.m. on the side of State Road 160 near Wheeler Road when she was struck by a vehicle and flung into the path of other oncoming cars.

The woman was lying in the path of southbound cars crying for help, according to witnesses, when she was struck again by the sheriff’s deputy’s car.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The deputy is on temporary leave while the incident is investigated.
