July 10th ─ Las Vegas Metropolitan Police are investigating a collision that left 1 woman dead. The incident occurred around 11:40 Saturday morning when police received calls about a traffic collision involving a Chrysler 300 and a Toyota Prius near the intersection of Craig Road and Tenaya Way. According to authorities and eyewitnesses the Toyota Prius was traveling east on Craig Road when the Chrysler 300 made a left turn in front of the Toyota Prius at Tenaya Way.

A passenger of the Toyota Prius was trapped inside the vehicle, identified as 84-year old Shirley Alexander, of Las Vegas. Alexander was extricated from the Prius by emergency first responders and then was transported by ambulance to University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead upon arrival by medical staff. The driver of the Toyota Prius, 85-year old Alvin Alexander, was also injured in the collision and was also transported to University Medical Center for treatment. There is no word on his condition at this time. The driver of the Chrysler 300, 47-year old Keith Banks, was uninjured. Banks remained on scene and cooperated with Metro Police during their investigation. Banks did not show any signs of impairment and no alcohol or drugs seem to be a factor in this crash. This death was the 75th traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas Metropolitan's jurisdiction since January 2017.
