Visiting Motorcyclist Killed in Weekend Crash
May 14, 2012 | Car Accident
A man from Texas was killed when he crashed into a curb on his motorcycle Saturday evening in Moapa Valley.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says that the 23-year-old resident of Odessa, Texas was traveling northbound on Lillian Condie Road in a residential neighborhood, just south of Hank Circle at a high rate of speed when he struck a curb, causing his motorcycle to lose control.
The bike and rider tumbled on the pavement and into the front landscaping of a home before smashing into a block wall.
The rider was taken to Perkins Field Hospital but was later pronounced dead as a result of his injuries. His name has not yet been released, as authorities are still working to contact his next of kin.
Police are investigating the accident to determine if there were other factors in play aside from the dangerous rate of speed.
The incident marked the 50th traffic related death in the Las Vegas Metropolitan area in 2012.
