A teenaged boy is recovering in serious condition after being hit by a large SUV in Las Vegas this morning.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the boy was near the intersection of Mountain Vista Street and East Tropicana Avenue at about 7:09 a.m. at the time of the accident.

The boy was immediately taken to Sunrise Hospital where he is listed in critical condition but is expected to survive.

An initial investigation suggests that a Chevrolet SUC may have traveled onto the sidewalk to hit the boy, though it has not been confirmed.

The southbound lanes of Mountain Vista were closed as investigators looked into the accident. At this time, there is no word on any other potential factors behind the crash, and further investigation is necessary to uncover what may have caused the SUV to drive onto the sideway, if indeed that was what took place.
