Teacher Killed after Being Hit by a Car
January 24, 2012 | Car Accident
Reno students at Cold Springs Middle School are devastated after the loss of their teacher in a fatal accident between a car and a pedestrian.
According to the police, Norman Waller was hit on Friday night while crossing the street near the Bonanza Casino on North Virginia Street.
This was Waller’s first year teaching at this middle school. He had spent the previous nine years teaching in Gerlach.
His friend, a fellow teacher named Travis Stransky, described him as a great man with an unwavering passion for teaching.
Police officials say that the driver was a 31-year-old woman. They do not think that speed or impairment was a factor in the accident. The crash remains under investigation.
