Suspected Carjacker Slams Cop Car
April 3, 2012 | Car Accident
In the wake of a fight, a man jumped into a van and smashed into a police car before speeding off Monday night.
According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, a police sergeant was called to a fight which broke out near Russell Road and Nellis Boulevard just after 8 p.m. Upon arrival at the scene, one of the participants of the fight jumped into a nearby van and rammed into the sergeant’s squad car.
After the collision the van sped off. The officer pursued the white Dodge van onto the southbound US-95 until his wrecked car broke down.
At that time the Nevada Highway Patrol and Henderson Police were notified of the incident and began looking for the vehicle. It was found abandoned a short time later in the intersection of Mountain Vista Street and Olympic Avenue in Henderson.
The search continues for the man who stole the car and smashed the police cruiser, but his wallet was reportedly found in the initial fight.
