Sparks Woman Arrested in DUI Motorcycle Accident

A woman is facing felony DUI charges after colliding with a motorcycle and injuring the rider and his daughter Sunday evening.
According to Sparks police, 57-year-old Barbara Gayton was traveling westbound on Nichols Boulevard when a motorcycle making a right turn onto McCarran Boulevard collided with the back of the SUV.
The motorcyclist, 45-year-old Gordon Hurley, was knocked unconscious in the accident and was found by paramedics at the scene is severe injuries. Hurley’s daughter was also on board the motorcycle, though her injuries were minor.
Both victims were taken to Renown Medical Center for treatment.
Gayton was arrested at the scene of the accident; police on scene believed she was drunk at the time of the crash. She was booked into Washoe County jail on felony driving under the influence charges causing substantial harm.
