September 11th ─ 3 accidents, 3 injuries, and 1 fatality all occurred between Friday, Sept. 9th- Sunday, Sept. 10th. The 1st incident occurred Friday evening around 7:40 p.m. when officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report from dispatchers of a vehicle striking a pedestrian at the intersection of Bonanza Road and Rancho Drive, near downtown Las Vegas. The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to University Medical Center, and was listed in critical condition by hospital personnel. There is no other information regarding this accident.

The 2nd incident occurred just after 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon when LVMPD responded to calls of a vehicle that had jumped the curb and struck 2 pedestrians on the sidewalk in the 3000 block of South Valley View Boulevard, north of West Desert Inn Road. The two pedestrians were transported by ambulance to University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries and are expected to make full recoveries. The driver fled the scene and LVMPD is still searching for the suspect.

The 3rd incident occurred at 10:35 a.m. Sunday morning near the intersection of Dean Martin Drive and West Tropicana Avenue in downtown Las Vegas. According to authorities, 24-year-old Juan Meldez-Keller of Las Vegas was heading north on Dean Martin, south of Tropicana, at an excessive rate of speed on a GSXR 600 motorcycle. Keller had failed to make a curve in the roadway causing the motorcycle to travel off the road and hit a chain-linked fence. Keller was ejected from the bike and struck a pole causing severe head trauma. He was taken to University Medical Center Trauma Center by ambulance, where he was pronounced dead by doctors. This is the 88th traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction since the beginning of 2017.
