Part of North Virginia Street closed while authorities worked to clean up the disaster left by a serious car crash.

The accident occurred between McCarran and Parr Boulevards on Wednesday at around 5 p.m.

Police say that the accident happened when one of the cars attempted to make a turn in the intersection and was struck by the other vehicle. One of the cars then spun off the embankment.

One person was seriously injured and taken to a medical center for treatment. The police are still investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
