1 woman was killed and another woman is in critical condition following a pedestrian-vehicle collision in Summerlin, west Las Vegas Tuesday evening, Sept. 26th. According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the incident occurred shortly after 8:00 p.m. at the intersection of Fort Apache Road and Lake South Drive, just north of Desert Inn Road in the West Valley where officers responded to a crash between 3 pedestrians and a vehicle. LVMPD authorities say that the 3 women were crossing Fort Apache Road, inside the cross walk, when a Chevy Malibu struck 2 of them. The 2 injured victims were transported by ambulance to University Medical Center where 1 woman, a 71-year old, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead by medical staff.

The Clark County Coroner's Bureau identified the 71-year old victim as Angela Meyer of Las Vegas. Her official cause and manner of death were still pending. The other woman identified as 36-year old Ariella Meyer-Bails of Las Vegas, suffered serious injuries and was listed in critical condition. The driver remained on scene and was later identified as 25-year old Emily Roe, a Las Vegas resident. Roe did not show signs of impairment and provided a statement to the police. There are traffic signals at the intersection, but police did not indicate whether the pedestrians were crossing with or against the light. The incident remains under investigation. This is the 99th traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction since the beginning of 2017. This collision remains under investigation.
