Las Vegas, NV (October 9, 2018) – A woman was critically injured after she was struck by a car in the northeast valley Tuesday, October 9th, authorities said. The incident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. as two pedestrians were crossing Lake Mead Boulevard outside of a marked crosswalk just east of Lincoln Road, Las Vegas Metro reported.

Investigations determined that at the same time, a 2013 Hyundai Elantra driven by an unidentified woman was heading west on Lake Mead Boulevard. The driver swerved to avoid hitting one of the pedestrians but struck the other, an unnamed 69-year-old woman, police said. According to officials, the pedestrian was transported to University Medical Center in critical condition. The driver remained on scene and did not display any signs of impairment, police said. Las Vegas Metro continued to investigate the accident.
