The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal rollover collision involving an ambulance that killed an American Medical Response Technician and a patient on Las Vegas Boulevard at the 215 freeway early Tuesday morning, Feb. 12th. The crash was reported to NHP sometime after 11:40 p.m. near Las Vegas Boulevard and the 215 Beltway. According to NHP, an AMR ambulance hit a puddle of water on the roadway and hydroplaned while transporting a non-ambulatory patient to a care facility.

The ambulance rolled over into an embankment on the I-15 junction to westbound I-215. Troopers arrived to find an EMT in his 50s and the patient in his 60s both dead at the scene. The driver of the ambulance was transported to Sunrise Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Metro Police officers and Nevada Highway Patrol troopers escorted the bodies from the crash site to the Clark County coroner's office for review. NHP trooper Jason Buratczuk, who accompanied the bodies said, "This is a first responder and his patient. They're out here trying to preserve life, and when we're doing that, it's a dangerous job no matter what you're doing. They were out here to save lives, preserve a life, and they ended up losing one of their own out here and the patient. So, our heart goes out to everyone involved."
