A wild accident in Australia look the life of hundreds of sheep and damaged cars as a truck overturns on a freeway overpass Thursday.

Reports indicate that a large truck carrying 400 sheep lost control and rolled on an overpass, causing its payload to dump onto the road and vehicle passing below.

The falling animals wreaked havoc on a number of cars passing underneath the overpass, including one car that rolled four times upon trying to avoid being hit. Car windshields were destroyed and roofs were caved in as hundreds of sheep weighing as much as a hundred pounds rained down from above.

"We looked up and we could see the truck flip on its side and then the next minute, we were underneath and yeah, raining sheep doesn't happen every day," said Kristy Davis, who witnessed the ordeal.

Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the accident, including the driver of the vehicle that rolled several times, though the animals faired much worse.

Authorities determined that fewer than ten sheep out of the 400 survived the accident. The fall from the overpass was more than two stories, and the landing area was nothing but hard pavement and rocks.

At this time it is unknown what caused the truck to lose control and roll; investigators are looking into the accident and questioning the driver about the moments that led up to the crash.

The mess of metal and animals caused a closure of both highways for more than nine hours. Debris was scattered across a wide area, leaving a messy and extensive clean up.
