August 1st ─ the Clark County Coroner’s Bureau has identified the motorcyclist killed in a crash after running a red light near the Las Vegas Strip late Thursday evening on July 28th. Jared Nelson, 25-years old, died of multiple blunt force injuries, according to the coroner.

The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. when Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officers responded to calls of a collision that included multiple vehicles. According to LVMPD officers and witnesses on scene, a Harley Davidson motorcycle failed to stop at the red light at the intersection of Dean Martin Drive and Jerry Lewis Way. The motorcyclist was traveling south on Dean Martin Drive when he crashed into a Nissan Sentra. The Nissan Sentra was making a left turn at the intersection, alongside a BMW 4 Series. During the collision the impact forced the sedan into the BMW. Nelson was transported to University Medical Trauma Center from the scene with injuries determined to be life-threatening.

Despite medical intervention Nelson succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the trauma center. The 25-year old female driver of the Nissan Sentra suffered minor injuries. This was the 82nd traffic related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction since the beginning of 2017. This collision remains under investigation with the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section.
