Las Vegas, NV (September 21, 2018) – A 36-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a fatal crash in the northwest valley Friday night, September 21st, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police. Officers responded to a call at the 3000 block of North Rainbow Boulevard near West Cheyenne Avenue at around 10:23 p.m. Reports indicate a driver of a black 1997 Chevrolet, identified as 21-year-old Ryan Mckeel, was driving northbound on Rainbow Boulevard in the center turn lane. At the same time, the driver of a red 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle, an unidentified 36-year-old man, was heading south on Rainbow on the far-left lane. Mckeel attempted a left turn in front of the motorcyclist which resulted in the crash, police said.

Although the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, he sustained major injuries as he was ejected from the vehicle. He was later transported to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Police report that alcohol or drug use did not appear to be a factor in the head-on collision. As officials investigated the accident, Rainbow Boulevard was closed in both directions. The crash marks the 99th traffic-related fatality in the Metro’s district this year.
