Luxor Guest Dies after Contracting Legionnaires’ Disease at Hotel
January 31, 2012 | Wrongful Death
The Southern Nevada Health District admitted that a guest of the Luxor Hotel and Casino died from Legionnaires’ disease.
The health department collected samples of the water and they all tested positive for Legionella bacteria.
No new cases have been reported, but the health department urges all recent guests of the Luxor hotel to go and get tested.
Symptoms of Legionnaire’s disease include a high fever, cough and chills can manifest between 2 to 14 days after the exposure.
Last spring, two cases of Legionnaires’ disease were reported from guests of the Luxor hotel, but the water samples did not test positive so the public was not warned. Both of those patients made a full recovery.
