Las Vegas Police Will Set Up DUI Checkpoints on Super Bowl Sunday
January 31, 2012 | Safety Tips
Southern Nevada will strictly enforce drunk driving laws on Super Bowl Sunday, starting at 4 p.m.
The participating parties in this special occasion saturation patrol are the Las Vegas Metro Police, the Nevada Highway Patrol, Lincoln County and Nye County Sheriff’s departments.
They will set up special DUI checkpoints which will target both alcohol and drug impaired driving.
The Las Vegas Metro police said that each checkpoint will have a special officer with training in Drug Recognition to evaluate drug-impaired drivers.
Saturation DUI patrol cars will be patrolling throughout the area south of Tropicana Avenue, north of Desert Inn Road, east of Valley View Boulevard and west of Rainbow Boulevard. There will be a checkpoint set up near Flamingo Road and Decatur Boulevard.
The patrol will continue until at least 3 a.m. following Super Bowl Sunday.
