Las Vegas, NV (August 20, 2018) – Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is reporting that a pedestrian was struck by a train while crossing the tracks in downtown Las Vegas Monday afternoon, August 20th. Las Vegas Fire & Rescue were summoned to respond to the scene at Main Street and Washington Avenue overpass around 2:00 p.m. According to authorities, the man was struck by a Union Pacific locomotive and suffered moderate and non-fatal injuries during the incident.

The man was reported to be speaking to fire crews after the incident. Justin Jacobs, the director of media relations for Union Pacific, said in an email, "the safety message here is that pedestrians, and everyone, need to be very aware of the hazards associated with trains and should never be on the train tracks or attempt to cross anywhere other than at a designated crossing when signs and signals permit." No other information was made available.
