Las Vegas Crash on I-15 Kills Two; DUI Suspected

LAS VEGAS, CA (May 9, 2022) – Late in the afternoon on Saturday in Las Vegas, a crash on I-15 killed two people. The May 7 crash occurred on the northbound side of the roadway, close to Charleston Boulevard.
The time was roughly 5:51 p.m., Nevada State Police said.
A vehicle--described as a Toyota Camry--had been heading north on the freeway. While trying to travel onto the ramp for US 95 HOV, the Toyota hit a barrier, according to authorities.
Two passengers were thrown from car when the crash happened. Responders transported the two people to UMC Trauma.
They were pronounced deceased in the hospital. The victims were identified only as a woman and a man. Their names, ages, and cities of residence have not been reported.
Responders took two other passengers to UMC Trauma. The patients suffered severe injuries that were described as not life threatening.
The patients have not been identified.
Authorities arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm, and DUI resulting in death.
The driver was identified as Marik Macklin, 26 years old.
Investigators are continuing their work on the crash.
