LAS VEGAS, CA (February 21, 2022) – Early in the evening on Sunday in Las Vegas, a crash involving a driver suspected of DUI injured three people, two of them critically. The February 20 crash occurred where Maroney Avenue and Sahara Avenue intersect, near Maryland Parkway and to the east of it.

The time was roughly 6:34 p.m., Las Vegas Police said.

A vehicle--described as a Scion TC--had been traveling on Sahara Avenue and heading west at a fast speed, according to reports. A vehicle--described as a Dodge Dart--was traveling on Sahara and going eastbound.

The Dodge made a turn to the left, and the two vehicles collided.

Responders arrived and transported the person who was driving the Dodge, and a passenger in the Dodge to Sunrise Hospital for treatment. The two patients suffered injuries that were described as critical.

The driver was identified only as 25 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.

The passenger was identified only at 39 years old. Her name and city of residence have also not been reported.

Responders also transported the driver of the Scion to Sunrise Hospital for medical attention. The types of injuries she suffered have not been reported.

She was identified as Cassandra Valerie Leal, 30 years old.

Leal was arrested on suspicion of DUI resulting in substantial harm, and reckless driving involving death or personal injury.

Investigators are continuing their work on the crash.
