GM Recalls SUVs Over Wiper Issues
April 14, 2012 | Car Accident
General Motors has announced a recall on a number of SUVs from Buick, Chevrolet, and GMC over an issue that could result in wiper blade failure.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, certain 2011 and 2012 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, and GMC Acadia SUV models contained wiper blades that would fail to perform under conditions with heavy snow.
Any buildup of snow along the wiper blade may restrict movement, causing the turn lead to the wiper arm to loosen and fall from the vehicle.
Clearly, the loss of a wiper blade in a stormy situation would dramatically harm visibility, making driving incredibly dangerous and accident potential high.
The recall only covers models that were sold in heavy snow areas including Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, and Idaho.
GM will start notifying buyers of the recall on Monday. Dealers will replace or tighten the connection to the faulty wiper free of charge.
