Explosion at a University of Nevada, Reno Dorm, Caused By Small Gas Leak

Reno, NV (July 12, 2019)- According to the Nevada State Fire Marshal's office, the explosion at a University of Nevada, Reno dorm last Friday July 5th was caused by a small gas leak in a boiler room. The gas leak had spread throughout the building and caused a larder second explosion that also caused damage to a nearby dorm room. Reno Fire Department responded to the scene and confirmed that 8 students had been injured and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
UNR Police chief Todd Renwick, announced Tuesday that the structures are sound and Argenta Hall performed as it should in the explosion. The University said they are providing counseling for students who are still suffering any trauma due to the explosion. No further information has been released to the public.
