Elderly Woman Kills 6 Year-Old Pedestrian in Car Accident
December 14, 2011 | Blog
An elderly woman has been charged with three counts of driving violations in connection with the fatal accident that she caused. On October 21, Alice Alava, age 78, struck three little girls as they were crossing the road in a crosswalk in North Las Vegas. One of the girls, age 6, died as a result of being struck, and her two sisters, ages 5 and 6, were seriously injured. Alava has been charged with failure to stop for pedestrians in a crosswalk; passing a vehicle that had stopped for pedestrians; and failing to give her full attention to driving. If she is charged, she faces up to six months in prison and a $1,000 fine for each charge.
