An elderly man is clinging to life and his elderly wife was killed after a solo vehicle accident in Lovelock Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the 73-year-old driver and his 66-year-old passenger were traveling down Interstate 80 when the vehicle began drifting to the side of the road at about 1:45 in the afternoon.

The man attempted to bring the vehicle back into the lane, but overcorrected and rolled the vehicle.

Emergency crews arrived on the scene to find the man unconscious; he was airlifted to Renown Medical Center in Reno where he is listed in critical condition.

The passenger in the vehicle, the driver’s wife, was killed in the crash. Police say the man is not yet aware that she is dead.

The identities of the victims in the crash have not been released, as authorities are still notifying their families.
