Las Vegas, NV. (May 20, 2018) - Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has found and arrested the driver in a suspected hit-and-run incident involving a 15-year old teenage girl who was struck while she was crossing the street inside a marked crosswalk in east Las Vegas Sunday night, May 20th. LVMPD officers responded to reports of an unresponsive teenage girl lying in the roadway near the intersection of Bonanza Road and N Honolulu Street near Lamb Boulevard sometime after 9:30 p.m. Officers arrived to find the 15-year old with injuries to her chest lying next to debris from a vehicle.

According to a preliminary investigation, the unidentified teen was walking across on Bonanza Road inside a marked crosswalk, that did not have a traffic light and where vehicles are supposed to yield to pedestrians, when she was struck by a 2006 Chrysler 300 that was traveling westbound on Bonanza Road. The driver of the Chrysler 300 failed to stop after hitting the teenage girl and fled the scene, police said.

The teenage girl was transported by ambulance to University Medical Center where she was treated for serious injuries sustained in the collision. She is expected to survive. LVMPD officers were able to recover a vehicle license plate at the scene and located to driver at the address listed in the vehicle’s registration. 18-year old Hannah Burks was arrested under suspicions of felony hit-and-run, felony failure to render aid after a collision, and failure to notify the police of an accident.
