Driver Killed in Solo Vehicle Crash with Center Divider
April 11, 2012 | Car Accident
An elderly driver was killed along the US 95 Tuesday afternoon as his vehicle struck the median between lanes several times.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. on the southbound lanes of the major highway as the 65-year-old man in a black Hyundai sedan slammed into the median multiple times before coming to stop in the right lane.
The man was taken to University Medical Center after the crash but was pronounced dead a short time later.
Although the cause of the accident is still under investigation, it is believed that the man went through a medical episode just before the collision took place.
Debris from the crash was strewn across lanes, causing the closure of multiple lanes. Traffic was backed up throughout the area as crews cleaned up the mess.
The identity of the elderly man who was killed has not yet been released as the county coroner’s office is first notifying the family.
