Las Vegas, NV (October 22, 2018) – A mother is in critical condition and one of her three children was killed when all four were hit by a vehicle while crossing a street near Boulevard Mall on Monday night, October 22nd, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said. Authorities responded to the incident which occurred shortly before 6:30 p.m. Police reports indicate that the 74-year-old driver of a truck pulled out of the Boulevard Mall shopping center and struck the woman and her children, dragging them for several feet before stopping mid-roadway.

Police said the family was properly crossing East Katie Avenue in a marked crosswalk. Emergency medical personnel arrived on scene, and transported the 25-year-old woman and her children, aged 2, 3, and 4 years old, to a local hospital for treatment. The 4-year-old boy died at the hospital, and his mother is in critical condition. The other two children are expected to recover and are okay, police said. According to officials, the driver of the truck remained on scene and fully cooperated with the investigation. The deadly accident marks the 114th traffic-related fatality in the Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
