Las Vegas Fire and Rescue were successful in their rescue of 2 people after their vehicle ended up submerged in one of the Desert Shores community’s lakes in West Las Vegas late Tuesday night, April 17th. Fire and Rescue crews responded to reports of a vehicle that had plunged into a lake near Breakwater and Port of Call Drives around 11:55 p.m. They arrived to find the vehicle submerged some 20 feet from the shore with 2 individuals standing on the vehicle’s roof.

1 of the individuals told firefighters that they did not know how to swim. Rescue crews used a small dingy to pull the 2 ashore. The 2 were examined by paramedics at the scene and were determined to be uninjured according to Las Vegas Fire and Rescue department’s spokesperson. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said that they are investigating the cause of the vehicle going into the lake and that they did not know whether alcohol or drugs played a factor in the incident, but have not ruled them out as playing a role. They did not respond to inquiries about whether charges would be filed.
