Bloodhounds and Handler Struck by Pickup

Bloodhounds Bonny and Barney and their handler Brenda Tunnell were hit by a pickup truck Wednesday. Bonny was killed and Tunnell and Barney were injured. Barney's front left leg was fractured. The team was attempting to cross Lake Meade Drive in the crosswalk.
Barney's prognosis was said to be good.
Kathy Smith, driver of the pickup, received a citation for driving without a license and failing to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk.
The dogs were trained to search for and locate missing persons.
The dogs were purchased and trained by Brenda and Bill Tunnell and donated to the Metro Police Department.
