A suspected driver is in Las Vegas Metropolitan Police custody after a hit-and-run collision that killed 3 boys and left a 4th boy in serious condition in the East Valley Saturday night. The incident occurred just before 9:10 p.m. when LVMPD responded to reports of a pedestrian-auto collision at the intersection of East Desert Inn Road and Cabana Drive, east of South Nellis Boulevard. Police say the boys were on the south side of the street, walking east on the sidewalk when a vehicle jumped the curb and ran the boys over. According to a preliminary investigation, the driver was trying to pass another vehicle on the right shoulder of the road when he lost control, jumping the sidewalk, hitting the boys and slamming into a traffic light.

Witnesses described the driver as “Shaken up and distraught” when he left the scene, jumping over a nearby wall and shedding his clothing as he fled. All 3 boys died at the scene. The ages of the victims were 12-years old, 12-years old, and 15-years old. 2 of the deceased appeared to be related, possibly brothers. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police didn't immediately release their names. The 4th boy, aged 13-years old, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with major injuries but is expected to survive.

LVMPD officers were able to locate the suspected hit-and-run driver. He was identified as 28-year old Joseph Eskandarian of Las Vegas. Eskandarian was arrested early Sunday morning, about 6 hours after the initial collision. "We served a search warrant on the vehicle that was completely destroyed and some paperwork in there led us to him. He was just a couple neighborhoods away from the crash scene. He faces numerous felony charges and is in custody at the Clark County Detention Center,” said LVMPD Lt. Peter Kisfalvi. It remained unclear if he was driving under the influence at the time of the fatal incident as he was arrested 6 hours after the incident.

“These kids’ life got cut short when it hasn’t even begun yet,” Kisfalvi said, “This is just completely unnecessary”.
