Las Vegas, NV (August 27, 2019)- The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is reporting that 2 officers were hospitalized following a collision with a suspected DUI driver early Monday morning, August 26th. LVMPD dispatchers received reports just after 2:30 A.M. of a collision at the intersection of Balzar Avenue and Bilbray Drive near Lake Mead and Rainbow Boulevards.

According to authorities, the suspect was traveling eastbound on Balzar Avenue when he ran a stop sign and collided into the driver’s side of a LVMPD patrol cruiser that was traveling northbound on Bilbray Drive. First responders arrived to find both officers inside the patrol cruiser to be suffering from pain to extremities and both were transported to University Medical Center where they were treated for minor injuries. The suspect was arrested for suspicions of driving under the influence and was taken to the hospital where he was treated for a knee injury. No other details were reported.
