Pedestrian Killed on Reno Crosswalk
May 11, 2012 | Car Accident
A middle aged man was killed after being hit by a passing vehicle in downtown Reno Wednesday night.
According to Reno Police, the crash took place at the intersection of Kietzke Lane and Gentry Way at 10:30 p.m. The 55-year-old man was making his way through the crosswalk when a vehicle collided with him.
The man was immediately taken to Renown Regional Medical Center, though he was pronounced dead a short time later. There are no details about the identity of the man at this time, though he is described as a Reno resident.
The 23-year-old driver that struck the pedestrian, who was not injured, remained on the scene to answer questions for police. He told investigators that he had a green light at the time of the crash.
Authorities are looking into the accident to confirm whether or not the driver had the right of way in the incident, and have ruled out drugs or alcohol has a factor in the crash.
