A very young girl is recovering in the hospital after being struck by a passing car Thursday night in North Las Vegas.

According to local police, the girl was hit in the 2600 block of North Daley Street, near North Las Vegas Boulevard and East Cartier Avenue at about 7:40 p.m.

The girl was reportedly chasing after a wayward ball, as young kids are want to do, that had rolled out onto the street when she was hit.

The girl was taken to University Medical Center for treatment of her injuries, which are reportedly minor. The girl is expected to make a full recovery.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene to speak with police about the incident. It does not appear as though the driver was at fault, and no punishment will be served.
