Child In Stroller Struck by Passing Vehicle
May 2, 2012 | Car Accident
A woman and her young daughter were struck by a car while attempting to cross the street mid-day Wednesday in Las Vegas.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the accident happened at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Algonquin Drive just before 11 a.m. as a woman was attempting to cross the street, pushing a stroller carrying her young child.
Police believe that while the two were making their way across, a vehicle turning right from Algonquin to Flamingo crashed into them. Initial indications show that the two were inside a legal crosswalk when they were hit.
The toddler was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries, which were thankfully non-life threatening.
The driver that struck the two remained on the scene and answered questions for police, who are trying to determine how the accident took place. Two westbound lanes of Flamingo Road were shut down as investigators looked into the crash.
