A woman in her late 50s was killed and another seriously injured after being struck by a car Saturday evening in Las Vegas.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the collision took place at 11 p.m. on Craig Road, just west of Las Vegas Boulevard.

The two women were attempting to cross Craig Road outside of a crosswalk when both were struck by an oncoming Nissan Xterra SUV in the far right lane.

Both women were taken to University Medical Center’s trauma center, where one of the women, a 58-year-old, was pronounced dead as a result of her injuries. Her identity has not yet been released.

The second woman, 54-year-old August KunKel, remains in the hospital where she is listed in critical condition.

The driver of the SUV, 38-year-old Regina Thomas, was arrested at the scene of the accident for misdemeanor DUI charges and was placed in Clark County Jail. Thomas and a passenger in her vehicle were unhurt in the crash.
