Cops Continue to Crack Down on Distracted Driving
April 13, 2012 | Car Accident
The Las Vegas PD will take to the streets again to crack down on the kinds of distracted driving that has led to increasing fatal accidents on Nevada roads.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Traffic Bureau coupled with several other Southern Nevada law enforcement agencies will hold distracted driving and speed enforcement saturation events Friday through Sunday throughout Las Vegas
The primary hours for the crackdown will be from 6 a.m. until 2 a.m. from April 13th through the 15th.
Officers will be on the lookout for drunk driving, running red lights, neglecting to wear seatbelts, and cell phone usage. Anyone caught violating any of these rules will be given a ticket.
This is the latest in a string of events put on by the LVPD in an attempt to curb some of the dangerous driving that takes place on Vegas roads. With reports of collisions between cars, and people and cars, flooding in in the early part of 2012, steps must be taken to put a stop to the kinds of behavior that leads to such a high number of fatal accidents.
The event is being sponsored by the Joining Forces Grant from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety.
