Authorities in Sparks made numerous DUI arrests over the weekend as sloppy residents celebrated St. Patrick’s Day.

There were 13 arrests made for driving under the influence this holiday weekend, which authorities say was intended to stop accidents before they happened.

Hoping to prevent future problems and fatal incidents, local officers were hard on the look-out for impaired driving. Extra officers were assigned to conduct DUI patrols throughout the city from a grant provided by the Department of Public Satefy.

Officers were conducting saturation patrols throughout the weekend, giving tests and issuing citations to anything that could have been construed as questionable driving.
