Mom Due In Court For Felony Charges
February 25, 2012 | Negligence
A Las Vegas woman is due to appear in court for the first time today in connection to a fire that severely injured three of her kids on February 15.
The 21-year-old woman, Jessica Warthen, is facing three counts of felony child abuse and neglect.
Reports say that Warthen left her three young kids at home in her apartment on Lewis Avenue where they got hold of matches and started a fire in the complex. The children were hospitalized for several days after suffering from smoke inhalation.
Police reports also indicate that Warthen was upset when she learned that the fire department was notified.
The children have been released from the hospital and have been placed in the custody of Child Protective Services.
