Las Vegas Officials Enforcing Safety Procedures in Specific Intersections
January 23, 2012 | Car Accident
An intersection safety campaign is being launched by members of law enforcement agencies throughout the Las Vegas area to reinforce safety rules at intersections with an unusually high number of accidents.
The Nevada Highway Patrol and the Las Vegas Police Department will work together to raise awareness for the safety of vehicle operators, pedestrians and passengers.
The following intersections will be targeted
Monday, January 23rd - Eastern and Serene, Cheyenne and Losee.
Tuesday, January 24th - Charleston and Lamb.
Wednesday, January 25th - Desert Inn and Maryland Parkway.
Thursday, January 26th - Tropicana and Paradise.
Friday, January 27th - Serene and Eastern, Craig and Losee.
The increased need for safety patrols comes after a deadly accident in which three little girls were hit by an elderly driver while crossing the street. One of the little girls died and the other two were seriously injured. They are both walking and talking now and their recovery is progressing well. The accident prompted the parents and city officials to start the “Be Smart, Be Safe” campaign to increase pedestrian awareness.
