LAS VEGAS, CA (January 10, 2022) – Early in the afternoon on Saturday in Las Vegas, a pedestrian was struck and killed. The January 8 crash occurred close to where Hayes Place and Decatur Boulevard intersect.

The time was roughly a little before 1:00 p.m., Las Vegas Police said.

According to reports, video from a surveillance camera captured the incident. A vehicle--described as a Chevrolet Equinox--had been stopped at the intersection for a light that was red.

The pedestrian was going across the street in a crosswalk that is marked. The pedestrian was at the halfway point across the road when the light turned green.

Reports say the person tried to run, but tripped. The SUV hit the pedestrian.

Responders transported the person to UMC Trauma. He died in the hospital.

He was identified only as 59 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.

The person who had been driving the vehicle stayed at the crash site. The driver's identity has not been reported.

Investigators are working on the crash details.
