Las Vegas- Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has released the identities of the drivers who were involved in a fatal collision at a busy intersection in Las Vegas early Sunday morning, July 7th. LVMP officers say the incident occurred at approximately 5:52 A.M. when dispatchers received reports of a traffic collision at the intersection of East Sahara Avenue and South Palm Street between a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox and a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro.

According to witnesses at the scene, the Equinox was traveling westbound on East Sahara Avenue approaching South Palm Street while the Camaro was also traveling eastbound on East Sahara Avenue where it failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The Camaro jumped over the median and careened into opposing traffic where it collided head on with the Equinox. 2 adult males were identified in the Camaro as 23-year old Jesus Guzman of Las Vegas and a passenger who was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

Guzman displayed signs of impairment and was transported to University Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Equinox, 62-year old Linda Pike of Las Vegas, was also transported to UMC where she was treated for serious injuries sustained in the collision. Both Guzman and his passenger were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision. The death marked the 57th traffic related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction since the beginning of 2019.
